Tuesday Ten #13
From A to V - Après Ski to Valentines
Last night I attended my first work dinner since July and omg, it was so fun. I’m fairly sure I got drunk from tiramisu though, which feels like a new low for my current lightweight status.
We went for a sleepover in central London at the Haymarket Hotel with If Only If, the beautiful nightie brand. It was the perfect scenario for my first solo dinner with my husband and Cosmo in our room just upstairs if I was needed. I’m breastfeeding with no schedule so it can be a bit touch and go, but it worked perfectly and honestly gave me such a buzz. Beyond that from the tiramisu.
I remember my husband once asking me what my favourite thing about my job was and my answer is still the same - the privilege of getting to meet and know so many women I admire. Last night felt like a perfect reminder of that, and made me feel genuinely excited for more socialising sans bébé, eventually. If anyone inviting me to dinner could also put me up in a nearby hotel, that would be ideal. I’m almost ready to leave my Fiona from Shrek era and go out in the dark.
Cosmo turned six months this week, an undeniable milestone. I’m still working on my/his birth story - there’s so much I want to articulate and I want to get it right. It’s coming.
Onto this weeks Tuesday Ten - the first five questions are free to read and behind the paywall this week I’m sharing my recommendations for honeymoon hotels, tiles, bedding, paint colours and the cot I just bought.
1. Do you have any incense holder inspo? Struggling for something a little bit different but chic
Firstly I will say how much I love when I get such specific questions like this - you guys are my people!
I have this one from Astier De Villatte. One of my best friends gave it to us as a wedding present and it’s so special - I particularly love the pedestal detail. Ceramicist PPP Labs does similar at a lower price point.
I also feel like an incense holder would be such a fun thing to make at a pinch pottery class!
2. Any good Valentine’s Day card suggestions?
Last year I bought my husband a piece of art as a card, which we’ll eventually have framed. It was a special edition from artist Alma Singer, and I’ve just seen she’s doing them again this year. They’re £30, so either a very expensive card or a cheap piece of original art! You can find them here and some of them are quite crude - you have been warned.
3. Après-ski outfit ideas please, it’s going to be freezing and snowy
You can get away with being extra when skiing so it’s the perfect place for an OTT coat. Emma Lou just wore an amazing one. If you’re concerned about luggage then pop your coat in a suit carrier bag, hang it off your carry-on and take it onto the plane (a tip from Saasha Burns).

4. Any postpartum haircare recs?
The post-partum hair loss is realllll. I felt it hard between months 4-6 and now have some lovely thinned out patches and spiky baby hairs.
I recently discovered a haircare brand specifically for pregnancy and postpartum hair called Maze. My hair loss has definitely reduced since using it - that could be a timing thing, it’s hard to tell, but it smells amazing nonetheless!
I’ve also switched to a non-aerosol dry shampoo by Battle Green - I’m definitely much more conscious of what I spray around Cosmo.
5. What’s your favourite fabric?
Favourite, favourite has to be Rose Uniacke’s heavyweight linen - it comes in a ton of colours, but Teacake is my number one, which is a unique biscuity tone. I’ve extensively sampled many linens and the texture of hers really is incomparable!
I shared more fave fabrics in a previous Tuesday Ten and I still love them all! -
